It is certainly no longer news that there is a crisis in ancient town of Ilehsa that involves Owa-obokun, Adimula, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, and his second in command, HRH Dr. Oyekanmi Ogedengbe, Obanla of Ijeshaland. The latter recently opened up what has been described as can of worms, by accusing the former of various weighty allegations.
In the past, Obanla of Ijeshaland, Dr. Ogedengbe had accused Oba Aromolaran of being the stumbling block in the way of development that would have moved the ancient town forward. What can be said to be of interest at the point is that the crisis is far from being over even as Obanla has again pointed accusing fingers at Aromolaran of allegation capable of bringing Aromolaran’s image to a disrepute, if the allegations are found to be true.
Obanla in a chat with news men said Aromolaran demanded 20% of the total cost of a pipe-borne water project contract approved by the former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, from the contractor.. The pipe-borne water project was said to have stopped.
Similarly, he further accused the monarch of breeding about eighty thugs he allegedly uses to harass people and forcefully collects money from individual embarking on building projects. He further accused him of using the said thugs to sell lands that do not belong to him. Obanla buttressed his accusation by sharing what he referred to as his experience with Aromolaran alleged thugs when his (Obanla) wife was working on a building project in the town.
